I looked at the design of the Xfinity remotes throughout the years so I could see the evolution of design language and branding. Doing this helped me get an idea of where I wanted to take the new Xfinity XRP - Remote & Phone. I also mapped out the most used keys on the remote so I could  see how often each key was being pressed.

I sketched around the XR5 remote that xfinity currently offers. I wanted to keep design of the new XRP close to the aesthetic of the existing remote with a few design changes. After I got the form down, I laid out several possible button arrangements making sure I had room for the touchscreen.  I chose the one best suited for this design from a usability Standpoint. From there i brought it into Solidworks and began Modeling

Since the XRP is both a home phone and a TV remote I had to create a simple UI that fits into Xfinity's Branding for the display. Since I had to remove many keys in order fit the screen, I designed the CONTROL screen to bring back many of the actions that had to be removed. The design of it was inspired the virtual wall at the Comcast center in Philadelphia.
